This and this are
copperbadge definitively winning the Internets. Or at least Dr. Who/Torchwood fandom.
To quote Part One: "This universe is predicated on the idea that neither the original Torchwood nor Doctor Who exist in this universe; it is speculation about how Torchwood would be handled by an American network, albeit an American network with a reasonably intelligent producer at the helm."
In this universe, Torchwood spawns Dr. Who. David Tennant is Captain Jack and John Barrowman is the Doctor. Tosh has a twin brother. Ianto is Gianni "Ian" Leone. Gwen is black. Owen is still Owen (still Burn Gorman), but he's also briefly a computer. Rose hasn't been stranded in an alternate dimension, Ross is alive and well (and has Mysterious Origins!), and the head writer and producer are an amazing pair of geniuses, and everyone is SO. REAL. and human. It's hilarious and touching and so damn good. It's an excellent follow-up to the end of season 4, and hey, there's always the possibility that, once he's done some work on his other projects, Sam'll come back around and do some more on this one. Maybe even before 2010.
